Business planning and investment appraisal

Development and analysis of business plans for corporate and government related organisations, including identifying key stress scenarios and key ratios to help improve the communication of creditworthiness to banks, rating agencies and investors. Option appraisal for specific investment proposals, including assessing the strengths and weaknesses of different options on both a qualitative and quantitative basis, and identifying and working through preferred options.

Financing options and negotiating funding terms

Assessment of financing options including exploring alternative funding arrangements including bank finance, bond finance (public issues and private placements) and equity funds and specialist  debt funds.  Assessment of off-balance sheet financing arrangements.  Development of funding prospectuses and negotiation of funding terms.

Credit reports

Independent credit reports for corporate and not-for-profit organisations, and project and structured finance transactions.  Bespoke analytical reports are tailored to specific requirements and are timely and cost effective.  The analysis can be used to assess likely ratings outcomes from ratings agencies and can inform particular investment decisions.


Management of credit rating process

Preparation of materials for presentation to ratings agencies, review of ratings outcomes, interpretation of developments in rating criteria, advice on maintaining relationships with agencies and ways of improving ratings.  Communication of ratings outcomes and credit information to the investor market.



Support to bond issuers and investors

Assistance with documentation.  Improving risk transparency between investors and issuers, particularly in sectors where there may be a limited track record of interaction and information sharing.  Advice on developing and maintaining relationships with the investor community.  Identifying individual investor requirements and preparation of materials for investor presentations.  Provision of investment perfomance/monitoring reports to investors.
 

Economic Research

Macro-economic analysis

Assessment of different macroeconomic scenarios, including interest rate and inflation projections on business plans and models.  Assessing the probability of particular economic risks crystalising and the likely impact on business operations.  Strategies for mitigating this impact.



Micro-economic analysis


At a more project specific level, assessing the impact of local economic data on future cash flows that support investment decisions.  This includes the interpretation of socio-economic data supporting demand forecasts, price levels and competitive threats, and the probability of changes to demand and supply assumptions and to pricing assumptions.



Cash flow and valuation models


Review of cash flow models and valuation models, including benchmark values, cash flow stress scenarios, interest rate and inflation assumptions, liquidity and market sentiment considerations, and value over time.  Overlaying quantitative measures such as default and recovery with qualitative factors associated with particular corporate and government related sectors to give a more rounded approach to market value analysis.
